Lifestyles
To the Bhutanese, a measure of social well-being called the GNH (gross national happiness) is more important than GNP (gross national product), which is the most important yardstick for measuring economic progress. The kingdom is therefore cautious in its approach to modernization.  Every effort is made to keep cultural traditions intact. Once in Bhutan, one will find much to explore, to understand and to appreciate.

Cultural Heritage
The process of making fabric for the ethnic Dong peoples' clothing is surprisngly complicated. Having observed the whole process I can sense the value of life from the ancient agricultural civilization. I can see there is still a joy of life that has not been completely erased by modernization.

People & Place
In addition to unsurpassed subtropical scenic beauty, Yunnan Province in southwest China is home to 25 of China’s 55 ethnic minority groups, more than in any other province or autonomous region. One of these remote ethnic groups is the Lahu people, who believe that their ancient ancestors were born out of a gourd.

Fashion competitions have long been a custom among the Yi ethnic group living in Chuxiong  located in Southwest China's Yunnan Province. The centuries-old custom is similar to fashion events held today in the hubs of haute couture like Paris and Milan. Beauty is definitely not skin-deep. Young Yi women parade the stage in a variety of outfits, which they design and make themselves. Not only are the women beautiful models, they are creative designers as well.
