Some collectors believe that Dzi beads are, in fact, shaly stones with traces of ytterbium (Yb), a rare earth metallic element whose magnetic field (three times as strong as that of crystal) is conducive to human health.

Collectors also claim that Dzi beads are a sort of “semi-diamond” with a hardness second only to the South African diamond.

We are not sure whether claims like these are correct, because until now, no scientific reports on Dzi beads have been available.
