Born in Heilongjiang
Province in 1942, Mou Cheng graduated from the art department of Harbin Normal
University in 1964. Famed for his ink paintings and prints, Mou is a member
of Chinese Artists Association, director of Chinese Print Artists Association
and Heilongjiang Artists Association.
Mou is not
only a well-known artist but also a devoted art educator. About 100 of his
paintings have been displayed in shows around the country. Many of them have
won awards and are in the collection
of the National Art Museum of
China. In 1999 he won the Luxun Prize, the top prize for Chinese print artists.
Mou believes
life is the source of artistic creations and one personal style is vital to
an artist.
