At the Palace
Museum, the Cultural Palace of Ethnic Groups and the Lama Temple Monastery , all in Beijing, you will find
collections of presents, or tributes as in feudal times, presented by generations
of the Dalais and Bainqens to Chinacentral governments through different historic
periods. The presents are in huge quantities - more than 800 pieces (or sets)
just in the collection of the Cultural Palace of Ethnic Groups. These include
religious objects, arts and crafts articles, production tools, articles used
by ethnic Tibetans in their daily life, as well as banners and scrolls with
inscriptions pledging willing allegiance to China阵 top rulers. Every piece
in the collections is invaluable to study of how the Dalais and Bainqens have
related to the country and its central governments.
