Chinese landscape painting
is not merely about the depiction of the visible world, it is a means of conveying
the artist’s innermost feelings.
Many artists find it hard
to challenge or break with the long tradition of Chinese landscape painting,
yet some still seek to free themselves from its confines. One of them is Rong
Tie, known as one of China’s top 100 painters.
“Western paintings use colors
to convey shadows, tones and a sense of space, while Chinese ink paintings
emphasizes the skills of using brush and ink to express artists’ understanding
of nature and life. By combining the East and West, we can develop our own
style,” said Rong Tie, whose explanation helps give art lovers a better understanding
of his bold style.
