   The South-Central University for Nationalities,  situated in Wuhan, Hubei Province, is the most successful institute of Nushu study, because of its close proximity to the location where the Nushu originated. Gong Zhebing, ÊÊwho began his teaching career at the  university in the 1980s, is the foremost scholar--he was the first to study the culture--in the Nushu. He advocated the establishment of the university’s Nushu Study Center. It was the first, and most successful, Nushu institute established in China. The center, cooperating with the scientific and technological branch of China Central Televivion, has produced a 100-minute special program on this subject. Prof. Xie Zhimin and associate professor Wang Lihua, both of the center, compiled a Nushu-NuShu audio electronic dictionary, reportedly the first of its kind in the world. It includes more than 2,100 Nushu characters. The dictionary facilitates the teaching and editing of Nushu characters.
    In addition, the South-Central University for Nationalities has published many academic articles on the study of Nushu.     The university¡¯s published academic works involving the Nushu are:”Nushu,”by Gong Zhebing;”The Mystery of Jiangyong Nushu,”by Xie Zhimin; “Nushu -- The Unique Female Character in the World,” by Gong Zhebing; and “Nushu -- Nushu Audible Electronic Dictionary,” by Xie Zhimin.
